Campaign Plan

Ajmal & I have attended a policy advocacy training led by SIRIUS Policy Network on Migrant Education from 11th - 18th September in Molina, Malaga within the framework of the University of Youth and Development, organised by the North South Centre of the Council of Europe. Upon returning to the UK, we plan to advocate in creating a safe and liveable space for young people.

Aims of our project:

To create a safe space for all youth to actively engage in community life.

To promote tolerance among multi-ethnic and multi-faith communities

To promote human rights and intercultural dialogue

To create a bridge to bring together youth and ageing communities for better support and learning.

Objectives:

We will recruit 15 young people and their parents from at least 2 ethnic and religious communities.

We will give 4 sessions (Two face to face and two online) on self-confidence, tolerance, working together for our neighbourhood priorities and on citizenship for future youth leaders.

We will organise 1 multi-cultural event (food, music) with a theme of “Celebrate Diversity” “Promote mutual coexistence”.

Outcomes:

  • To improve participants understanding and practices regarding self confidence

  • To understand the concept of tolerance, how to use it in their community and in their daily lives.

  • Engage in solving community challenges with participants.

  • An improved understanding of citizenship concepts to actively engage in their lives.

Measuring outcomes:

  • Number of participants from 2 or more ethnic and religious backgrounds attending 2 or more of the sessions

  • If the participants are taking one community activity in their neighbourhood, school or community.

  • 3 or more ethnic groups participated in the “Celebrate Diversity” event.

At the end of the project, we will conduct a survey measuring satisfaction and any impact on young people and families' lives.
